Do you have an old picture of your mother? The yellowish tinged or black and white photograph where they posed in front of a nice building or holding a flower in their hand. The ones where they have a big afro and thick wedge heels.
In the social media and influencer world, it’s easy to want a certain sort of life that everyone else seems to have. But that’s when you’ve got to believe that you are exactly who God wants you to be. Your experiences may not even be the best but they are working out for best.
How do you deal with something you cannot change? Like being a woman? From clients to bosses and colleagues, it has been an interesting journey of discovery… But it’s not as if I want so much to be such a threat.
My dad always had this open-door policy. No “beware of dog” business on the gate, Although as I think about it, we’ve always had dogs. At one time, we had five. Buzz and her gang. But they were there to keep away other kinds of danger. I never felt as if I couldn’t bring any friend home. And as I think back to it now, it was a very good filter because if I couldn’t bring a man home, then it meant there was a problem somewhere.
